Danic Tools is a person-centered, object-relational, database management system (ORDMS) designed to support affordable, integrated, enterprise systems expressly for health and human service agencies. Danic is built to integrate easily with other applications and databases in order to anchor comprehensive agency solutions. System A windows-based, web-enabled product, Danic Tools runs on a PC network (client/server system) and over the internet. An agency may itself administer the Danic system either in its client/server or web-based form. Agencies having the web-based Danic system, may choose to have Danic Technology administer it in order to avoid the costs of a SQL server and the time and expense of employing persons to maintain both the server and the Danic Tools database. The web-based version is a manageable option for many if not most human service agencies. The System is secure with the ability to monitor and control record access, authenticate users and encrypt transmissions. It protects the privacy of sensitive information by limiting who may view any data and any report in the system as required for compliance with American (HIPAA) and Canadian (PIPEDA) standards. Flexibilty The hallmark of Danic Tools is the ease with which it can be configured and reconfigured to fit the particular and changing needs of agencies without changing the source code, i.e. with little or no vendor help, with less effort and expense. Its unique flexibility owes to the higher-order, convergent engineering standards to which it was built. The key is it’s individually-centered, object-oriented design. It is being used by developmental disabilities, behavioral health, substance abuse, child and family service, elder service, juvenile justice, EAP and other types of agencies. Its versatility makes it perfect for multi-service agencies who must deal with the different reporting, billing and record-keeping demands of multiple oversight agencies. Unlike industry-specific software confined to the needs of particular types of human service agencies, Danic Tools allows the multi-service agency to manage many service lines efficiently as integral parts of one system, one operation. Hardware The minimum hardware requirements needed to run Danic Tools are a Pentium level II computer with 128 Megs of RAM. As a 32-bit application it will only run under a 32-bit operating system like Windows 98/2000/XP or Windows NT. Danic caches information peculiar to each agency on agency machines in order to avoid the transfer of large volumes of data over the internet and maintain reasonable response times. In addition, in agencies where Danic exchanges data with other agency applications or with the Danic Server in the case of the web-based application, user PCs must have a copy of current SQL Client Utilities, the version of ODBC that is recommended for use with the Subscriber’s version of Danic Tools, and must support a 128 bit encryption connections. Thanks to Danic’s caching design, the web-based version of Danic can operate over low-speed connections; high-speed connections, however, are recommended. |
