Convergent Engineering got its start in Canada at the University of Toronto where Danics lead developer learned and mastered it. By treating the business and software engineering as one integrated discipline, convergent software engineers are able to design more flexible and adaptive software. A model of the organization and its processes is created together with a corresponding application model and database model. All three models converge into one business model. The result is a database and application that emulate the operation of the organization, and that change in step. Whenever the organization changes the way it does business the application and database change with it. It makes particular sense for human service agencies that are continually changing to meet the demands of the agencies under whose aegis they serve and that cant afford to keep changing or upgrading software to keep pace. |
