Another important object in Danic Tools is the "Group" object. This object allows you to organize the various people in your database into convenient groups. People can belong to one or many groups, over time or simultaneously. Each time you associate a person with a group you record the start date of that association and, if the association ends, you record an end date. If the person rejoins the group, simply remove the end date. You can define any number of groups, subgroups of groups, subgroups of subgroups, .. For instance, if you are running a private practice, you might want to attach all of your clients to one group called "My Practice" and your partner's clients under another group called "Bill's Practice". If you were managing clients from a number of different programs or funding sources, you would likely want to set up a different group for each program or funding source and assign the appropriate clients to each. You might divide staff into administrative, support, and direct groups; by department or division. The Group object allows you to define any number of rules that govern cases opened for people belonging to that group. For example, you might define one set of service limits or rates for one group, another set of service limits and rates for another group. By definition - a group is a collection of people. * Click on the image to see a sample of the DCAM "Group" object in action. |
