Most computerized case management systems are designed to accomplish one or two basic tasks. They are either "Billing" systems or "Statistical Reporting" systems or both. In short we call these types of systems "Data Entry Systems". This is because the actual working file for the client is maintained in a paper file and only billing and/or statistical data is entered into a computer.

While Danic Tools will do a fine job as a data entry system, it is designed as a live case management administration system. This means that if enough people have access to it, your organization will only need paper files to store legal documents (i.e. a signed release of information form). All of the case notes, treatment plans, scheduling and activity pertaining to the client‘s file is available from within Danic Tools.

If your organization is not yet in a position to be able to provide all staff with access to the system, you will be able to maintain Danic Tools as a data entry system and as resources allow, you can move to live case management administration over time.

To understand and use the principles of DCAM, you will need to address two central concepts within your organization. The design behind Danic Tools is based on two concepts.

Click on the links to the left to view the two fundamental concepts with a respective detailed explanation.
